About pre-season
In an organized sports league, a typical season is the portion of one year in which regulated games of the sport are in session: for example, in Major League Baseball the season lasts approximately from the last week of March to the last week of September. In other team sports, like association football or basketball, it is generally from August or September to May although in some countries – such as Northern Europe or East Asia – the season starts in the spring and finishes in autumn, mainly due to weather conditions encountered during the winter.
A year can often be broken up into several distinct sections (sometimes themselves called seasons). These are: a preseason, a series of exhibition games played for training purposes; a regular season, the main period of the league’s competition; the postseason, a playoff tournament played against the league’s top teams to determine the league’s champion; and the offseason, the time when there is no official competition.

The Scotland international played no part in Sunday’s 2-0 win over Ross County, but Celtic manager Neil Lennon praised the forward’s commitment to getting match ready ahead of the meeting with his former club.

Griffiths is now expected to be rewarded with game time against Hibs on Monday afternoon.

The Easter Road side claimed their first pre-season win last week with a 2-1 victory over Hamilton Accies in Leith, before a spectacular Daryl Horgan strike secured a 1-1 draw with Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

Jack Ross will have a full squad to choose from as the Capital club prepare for their Premiership opener with Kilmarnock this weekend.

New signings Alex Gogic, Kevin Nisbet and Drey Wright are all available for selection having joined the club earlier this month.

Sean Mackie, Stevie Mallan, Joe Newell and Ryan Porteous have all returned to training and matches since battling back from injury since top flight clubs have returned to full training.

However, Ross will be without Florian Kamberi, who has flown back to Switzerland to visit family and hold talks over his future.

The Hibees suffered a 2-0 defeat on their last league visit to Celtic Park in December.
