Dr. Disrespect Is Returning To Streaming – What Time And What To …

At a certain point yesterday, Herschel “Guy” Beahm, better known as Dr. Disrespect, had over a quarter of a million people watching an image of a gas station. Last month, Twitch banned the celebrity streamer from its platform for what remain unclear reasons, and now he’s plotting a comeback. After a series of videos and teasers, he started streaming the gas station on Youtube yesterday evening, and plans to start streaming today, August 7, at 12:00 PM Pacific Time.

About Disrespect
Respect, also called esteem, is a positive feeling or action shown towards someone or something considered important, or held in high esteem or regard. It conveys a sense of admiration for good or valuable qualities. And it is also the process of honoring someone by exhibiting care, concern, or consideration for their needs or feelings. Some people may earn the respect of individuals by assisting others or by playing important social roles. In many cultures, individuals are considered to be worthy of respect until they prove otherwise. Courtesies that show respect may include simple words and phrases like “Thank you” in the West or “Namaste” in the Indian subcontinent, or simple physical signs like a slight bow, a smile, direct eye contact, or a simple handshake; however, those acts may have very different interpretations, depending on the cultural context.

About Returning
In retail, a product return is the process of a customer taking previously purchased merchandise back to the retailer, and in turn receiving a refund in the original form of payment, exchange for another item (identical or different), or a store credit.

So, if you want to see just how he is going to handle coming back to the world of streaming after the sudden, mysterious ban and continued insistence that he doesn’t know why it happened, that’s when you’ll want to watch: 12:00 PM Pacific Time. I won’t embed, but his channel is here.

In an email, a representative for Dr. Disrespect confirms that the streamer does not have an exclusivity deal with Youtube, and has “immediate plans to experiment with other platforms”, such as Facebook gaming and his website ChampionsClub.gg.

When he shows up, its unclear whether or not he will address the Twitch Ban, but I’d be surprised if we got any more details out of him, for legal and other reasons. He was previously banned from Twitch—temporarily, that time—for streaming from a bathroom at E3, in violation of California’s privacy laws. Despite making a longer, out-of-character apology for the incident, he used it as a source of jokes when he started streaming again and hyped up a comeback.

Disrespect went on a recent charm offensive with a series of interviews in the Washington Post, PC Gamer and CNN, followed by a video on Twitter of himself standing in a neon alleyway with some synth music. He didn’t offer much in the way of new information, but the interviews seemed to indicate that he—and, crucially, his lawyers—believed that a rehabilitative campaign would be possible, and that he would be able to start streaming again, just not at Twitch. He also suggested that he was considering legal action against Twitch for the ban.

While we still don’t have a reason for the ban, it took place against the backdrop of broader action from the streaming service in response to a wave of abuse allegations, after which the company promised to continue enforcing its guidelines with increased rigor against large and small channels alike.

Things were relatively quiet since then, but if the interest surrounding Doc’s static image of a gas station are any indication, plenty of people will turn up to watch the comeback stream: he’s been gaining followers at a solid clip on his new platform. I don’t believe that this whole affair started as a publicity stunt—Disrespect’s strange final stream on Twitch seemed to indicate a person in genuine turmoil—but at this point, it seems like he’s determined to turn the ban into one regardless.

It’s a strange story, but I know I’ll be watching the comeback stream. Not to see him play games, but to see in what way, if any, he addresses the ban and the mystery surrounding it. I don’t think he’ll give us an explanation, but the first few minutes will be interesting, regardless.
