Europa League – Wolves 1 Olympiacos 0 – participant scores

1

Rui Patricio

Man of the match, without a doubt. Can’t remember a better performance from him for Wolves – and that is saying something considering how dependable he has been over the past couple of years.

His save to keep out Tsimikas was remarkable, and then he displayed immense reactions to thwart Hassan from close range late on. Patricio was the difference-maker.

About League:

Did not put a foot wrong and those two stops were outrageous. You could not ask for any more. A big-time performance from a player who knows how to win major competitions. 10

Willy Boly

Boly, with a clever nudge, put El-Arabi off when he tried to head in an inviting cross in the second half. The Frenchman was solid. 7

Conor Coady

Constantly organising and encouraging. El-Arabi was a handful all night, but Coady certainly did his bit in keeping the Greek side at bay. 7

Romain Saiss

Got stuck in throughout – winning headers, making blocks. One of his better performances since the restart. 7

Matt Doherty

Tsimikas burst past him before forcing Patricio into his wonderful save. Quieter than usual in an attacking sense, too. 6

Joao Moutinho

Took quite the whack from Ba just before the break – a nasty challenge from the defender. Carried on without standing out. 6

Ruben Neves

Similarly to Moutinho, Neves covered plenty of ground but did not see anywhere near as much of the ball as he would have liked. 6

Jonny Castro Otto

Forced off with an apparent knee injury early on. Let’s hope it is not as bad as it looked. N/A

Adama Traore

Not his night. The Spaniard lost his footing on a few occasions and was also guilty of giving the ball away cheaply a couple of times. Unsurprisingly taken off. 5

Raul Jimenez

Cool as you like from the spot. The Mexican has quietly become one of the best penalty-takers around. Now on 27 goals for the season. So confident that he even tried to score with a rabona. 7

Daniel Podence

Won the penalty which Jimenez converted and caused problems against his former club – more so early on. A positive contribution. 7

Subs

Ruben Vinagre (for Otto, 17)

Olympiacos had a bit of joy against him but, all things considered, it was a decent showing from Vinagre in a game of huge importance. 7

Diogo Jota (for Traore, 57)

Looked fairly bright but missed a gilt-edged opportunity which would have made the end far less nervy. 6

Leander Dendoncker (for Podence, 70)

Brought some more solidity. 6
