The I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! fans have spoken on whether the show’s controversial move to the UK for this year’s series is a good thing or not.

Yesterday, it was revealed that the show would move production from the Australian jungle to a ruined castle in the British countryside due to the travel restrictions imposed by coronavirus.

About Celebrity
Celebrity is a condition of fame and broad public recognition of an individual or group, or occasionally a character or animal, as a result of attention given them by mass media. A person may attain a celebrity status from having great wealth, their participation in sports or the entertainment industry, their position as a political figure, or even from their connection to another celebrity. ‘Celebrity’ usually implies a favorable public image, as opposed to the neutrals ‘famous’ or ‘notable’, or the negatives ‘infamous’ and ‘notorious’.

To celebrate the momentous news, Metro.co.uk launched a poll, asking fans to vote on whether they thought this was the best course of action for the show to take.

Namely – will the British version be a necessary watch, or does it only work if it’s set in Oz? (We’d sure the celebrities and their families no longer staying in the Versace Hotel would agree with the latter.)

We ran two polls, both on our site and Twitter account where we asked everyone for their hot takes – and boy, did you deliver.

Through the two polls, 10,000 people cast their vote and we can now reveal the results – and it’s a decisive result for the ‘No’ camp.

Over 5,000 people voted that it was probably best for I’m A Celebrity to wait for a year so it could return to the Land Down Under.

Meanwhile, over 4,000 people were big fans of the show switching up location for its 2020 series, which has been necessitated by the Covid-19 pandemic.

In the interest of fairness, we’ve posted above the results of both polls – which we combined together and then rounded up to come up with the final result.

It’s basically all change for the new series – which will apparently be setting up camp in the ruins of an abandoned castle in North Wales, which sounds spooky enough as it is.

The change from Oz to UK could also present a bit of a problem for the producers – as British law is pretty strict on the use of animals for entertainment purposes, which could spell the end of Bushtucker trials.

A spokesperson for the RSPCA told Metro.co.uk: ‘The RSPCA does not endorse the use of animals in any form of entertainment and in particular where this is likely to cause distress or suffering.

‘However, we do feel it’s important to offer advice to those who decide to use animals in entertainment and will always offer further guidance including ways to seek alternatives to animal use.’

I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! comes to ITV later this year.
