QUAD CITIES (KWQC) – Thousands of people throughout the Quad-Cities region are waking up Tuesday morning without power following severe weather Monday afternoon.

According to MidAmerican Energy Company, 48,355 are still without power in the Iowa Quad-Cities, while 50,535 are without power in the Illinois Quad-Cities as of 6:07 a.m.

About Thousands
1000 or one thousand is the natural number following 999 and preceding 1001. In most English-speaking countries, it is often written with a comma separating the thousands unit: 1,000.
It may also be described as the short thousand in historical discussion of medieval contexts where it might be confused with the Germanic concept of the “long thousand” (1200).

A spokesperson from MidAmerican Energy on Monday called it “one of the worst storm impacts the company has seen” and “all hands on deck.” The company requested mutual assistance for 2,000 workers to clear trees and restore utilities. According to the spokesperson, because of the storm’s significant impact in the Midwest, some customers might be without power for several days.

Alliant Energy reached out to TV6 with the following statement:

“Severe weather moving through Iowa is causing significant damage and widespread power outages. Power lines are down and, before restoration can begin, there will be many trees to clear. As soon as it’s safe to do so, Alliant Energy crews will begin working to assess the situation and working to restore services. As of right now, the company is unable to provide an estimate time of full restoration.

As of 4:47 a.m. Tuesday, 4,708 in Cedar County are without power; 15,231 in Clinton County are without power; 1,133 in Muscatine County are without power; 830 in Jackson County are without power, and 2,215 in Scott County are without power.

Customers are reminded to stay away from downed power lines and be cautious when clearing tree limbs and brush near electrical equipment. “
